At 1,673 acres, Maranacook Lake is a medium-sized water body made primarily up of two basins. Both basins have excellent public boat launch facilities with ample parking. The waterway is moderately-developed with many summer homes and year-round residences and on many weekends the lake is a center point of activity. Maranacook Lake is well-marked with navigational buoys by the Maine Department of Conservation. The two basins are distinctly different from a fishery management standpoint. The North basin, located in Readfield, is about 673 acres in surface area and has a highly irregular shoreline. This basin is relatively shallow and the water temperatures are similar from top to bottom. The habitat in the North basin favors such species as smallmouth bass, largemouth bass, chain pickerel, white perch and yellow perch.Featured Species: Brown Trout, Brook Trout, Smallmouth Bass, Largemouth Bass, Chain Pickerl, Northern Pike, Landlocked Salmon, Rainbow smelt, Black Crappie, White Perch Ma
