MAD Max's First Ride!
On January 1, 2017, Lifetime Motorcycling Achievement award winners Gin Shear & Sue Slate aka Rock Star, Bad-Assed, Motorcycle Aunties, gave my 14 year old son, MAD Max, one of the greatest gifts in his life; their time, their knowledge, their training and the introduction to life on two-wheels.
We headed off to the County of Santa Clara Regional Parks and Recreation Area to hook up with Gin & Sue and with over 25 years of Learn2Ride Motorcycle Training behind them, I MAD Maps Mommy, moved aside and let the professionals take over.
By days end, Max had not only learned the basic techniques of dirt bike riding, but he also persuaded Sue (didn’t take much) to complete Trail 1. Yes, there was a fall, and a monumental bruise to show for it, but the enormity and confidence that was experienced eclipsed the multiple hues of blue.
I have been riding for over 30 years and I can’t begin to tell you how many truly amazing folks I have met and continue to meet through this incredible community.
