Scout's Ride of the Month
Canyon of the Eagles
Take to the scenic roads of this Texas Hill Country loop in spring to see the colorful wildflowers and in fall to be overwhelmed by the vibrant leaves. This spectacular route northwest of Austin truly has it all for motorcyclists. FM-1431 will get your heart racing as it takes you on a rollercoaster ride, ending at US-281 in Marble Falls and the famed Blue Bonnet Cafe, a must-stop for some hearty home cookin' finished off with a tasty slice of pie. After the excellent eats, the journey offers up two state parks, scenic overlooks, caverns, lakes, and historical sightseeing for some some well-deserved time off the bike. If you're lucky you may even spot a bald eagle. Continue along through Burnet and Bertram counties for a pleasant, easy going trek across wide-open farmland. Be sure to stop at the Common Ground Coffeehouse in Bertram for a strong cup of java to keep ya goin'.One final piece of advice: bring your camera on this ride or you'll be sorry.
